Eagleton Institute of Politics
Center on the American Governor
Development and Management Team
The Center on the American Governor (CAG), an initiative of the Eagleton Institute of Politics, is being developed and managed by a team of Eagleton faculty, staff and associates.
The Center is directed by John Weingart, Eagleton Institute Associate Director.
The Eagleton team includes Ruth B. Mandel, Eagleton Institute Director and Board of Governors Professor of Politics, Nancy Becker, Program Development Associate and Eagleton Visiting Associate, Jennifer Bognar, Senior Development Associate, Benjamin Clapp, Videographer, Kathy Kleeman, Senior Communications Officer, Kristoffer Shields, Historian and Program Manager, and Bob Smartt, Eagleton Visiting Associate.
Many of CAG’s interviews are conducted by experienced journalists and policy analysts, including Michael Aron, NJTV, Marie DeNoia Aronsohn, Rutgers University Foundation, and Rick Sinding, writer and policy analyst.
Undergraduate and graduate students with interest in governors and state executive leadership also assist the Center through projects done in structured though unpaid internships.
CAG also benefits greatly from input and advice from past and present governors and many others who have participated in or interacted with state government.
The Center on the American Governor relies on financial contributions by organizations and individuals who recognize the growing contemporary importance of governors and the value of chronicling and analyzing the paths and actions of men and women who have held the office in the 50 states.
