William Faherty served as deputy mayor of Trenton and deputy commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Banking & Insurance. Following his government service, he began a long career with leading New Jersey banks as a public finance and government relations executive with Fidelty Union, First Fidelity and Wachovia Banks. He also was elected in the 1980s as president of the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce. For over 20 years, he chaired the Governor’s Invitational Tennis Tournament benefiting the restoration of the governor’s residence. Bill Faherty passed away in August 2012.
