Retired Judge Lawrence Bilder was a long-time friend, associate, and colleague of Governor Richard Hughes. After working together as attorneys before Hughes’s governorship, Bilder served as Executive Secretary and later Counsel in the Hughes administration. In 1968, Governor Hughes appointed Bilder to the New Jersey Superior Court as a judge in the Law Division. Judge Bilder would go on to serve over three decades in the state judiciary, in both the Law Division and later the Appellate Division, before retiring from the bench and returning to private practice. Judge Bilder has an LL.M. from the University of Virginia and an LL.B. from Harvard Law School.
