Interview with Kevin Ryan

Kevin Ryan served in Governor Corzine’s cabinet for over two years (2006-2008), first as commissioner of human services and then as the first commissioner of the newly-created department of children and families. Before working for Governor Corzine, Ryan served as the deputy chief of operations for Governor Jim McGreevey (2002-2003) and as New Jersey’s first state child advocate (2003-2006).

Ryan continued his work with children and families after leaving government. Since 2009, he has served as the president and CEO of Covenant House. In 2015, President Barack Obama appointed Ryan to the President’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. In 2018, he joined President Trump in the Oval Office to witness the signing of human trafficking legislation that Ryan and Covenant House had championed for many years.
