James Weinstein was appointed executive director of NJ Transit by Governor Chris Christie in 2010. He previously served as New Jersey’s Commissioner of Transportation and Chair of the NJ Transit Board of Directors from 1998 to 2002, as well as senior vice president of Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor. Immediately prior to returning to state government, Weinstein served as senior vice president of AECOM, a global transportation consulting and engineering firm. A lifelong resident of New Jersey, Weinstein holds a B.A. in philosophy from Seton Hall University.
