Harriet Derman is of counsel to DiFrancesco, Bateman, Coley, Yospin, Kunzman, Davis, Lehrer & Flaum, P.C., where she provides dispute resolution, case management and special master services. She has been appointed by Governor Chris Christie to the Judicial Advisory Panel (reviewing candidates for appointment to Superior Court) and by Chief Justice Stuart R Rabner to the Supreme Court Committee on Dispute Resolution. Derman served as a judge between 1998 and 2009 – as a judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey until 2003, then as presiding judge of the Civil Division, supervising civil trial judges in Somerset, Hunterdon and Warren Counties, and finally from 2006-2009 as chancellor and presiding judge of general equity and probate. In the Whitman administration, Derman served as commissioner of the Department of Community Affairs, chief counsel to the Governor, and finally chief of staff to the Governor. She served one term in the New Jersey General Assembly representing the 18th district. She currently serves on the board of directors of Opportunity Project Inc.
