Chuck Haytaian served in the New Jersey Assembly from 1982 until 1996. When Republicans took control of the Assembly in 1992, Haytaian was elected Speaker and remained in the position until he chose to retire in 1996. After leaving the Assembly, Haytaian was nominated by Governor Whitman to serve as State Party Chair for the New Jersey Republican Party, a position he held from 1995 until 2001, including during Whitman’s reelection campaign. Haytaian also has experience as a Warren County Freeholder and was the Republican Party nominee for the U.S. Senate in 1994.
