Jamie Fox served as deputy chief of staff to former New Jersey Governor James Florio. Fox also served as commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Transportation, deputy executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, chief of staff to New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevey and U.S. Senator Bob Torricelli, state director for U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg, and executive director of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. In the private sector, Fox was a founding partner of the strategic consulting firm Fox & Shuffler, specializing in transportation and infrastructure policy and planning, crisis management, government affairs, media relations and regulatory support. Fox re-entered state government in September 2014 when he once again became commissioner of the NJ Department of Transportation, this time under Republican Governor Chris Christie, a position he held at the time of this interview. He resigned as commissioner in October 2015. Fox passed away at the age of 62 on Feb. 20, 2017.
