Governor Jim Edgar and Dealing With Crisis

April 21, 2020

On December 2, 2010, Governor Jim Edgar (R-IL) visited the Eagleton Center on the American Governor for a conversation with Professor Alan Rosenthal. During that discussion, Governor Edgar talked about unexpected challenges he faced in his first term–including a budget crisis and the worst floods in state history–and how his response to those issues came to, in part, define his legacy. The Center offers his insight in this time, when governors across the country are facing an obstacle they did not expect and which, for many, will define their own gubernatorial legacies. Governor Edgar’s full interview is available here.
